This is a great grilled cheese with Brie. Brie is one of my favorite cheeses, it so creamy when melted. What goes great with brie? Fruit and bread of course, so adding this to a grilled cheese was natural! For this recipe, I used blueberries but you could easily swap for blackberries or apples.
Things to Know About Brie!
Should you eat the Brie rind?
Yes! you can eat the rind, we checked with President Cheese one of the leading Brie producers and they stated that, ” it is considered gauche by some to merely scrape the inside of the cheese and avoid the rind.”
Did you know Brie Cheese Ripens?
Yeah, we were a little surprised on this when we first started eating Brie too! We consulted with the experts at President Cheese again and they advise, “you can tell the cheese is ripe with the outside is firm and the inside slightly bouncy.”
How do you store Brie properly?
According to President Cheese:
Cutting into Brie halts the ripening process. At this point, eat the cheese within the next several days, or refrigerate it until your next snacking occasion.
The trick is to wrap the remaining cheese in waxed paper or parchment paper – avoid using plastic wrap for fresh Brie. This will allow the rind to continue to breathe and stay dry.
