Make an American Flag for Dessert!
Great for Fourth of July or Memorial Day!
The kids found a picture of a cake decorated with strawberries and blueberries for the 4th of July. They have been asking me for days if we could make one. So we created our own American Flag for dessert.
We try to limit sugar for the kids (they have PLENTY of natural energy), I decided to try and HEALTHY it up a bit using graham crackers and whipped cream instead of cake and icing.
My boys love to help make things in the kitchen, and this recipe is excellent as kids can help with every step and then eat what they make.

American Flag Graham Crackers are also an excellent preschool craft for the Holidays.
If you check out our photos, my two ½-year-old is working on some of his fine motor skills. Using a butter knife to spread the whipped cream across the graham cracker and picking up the tiny slices of strawberries really helps to develop those skills. This activity also helps to develop spatial awareness and observation skills, as he is copying what I did.

- Whipped cream (we make our own using 1 cup heavy whipping cream and one tablespoon of sugar)
